A new research has been shown that eating only fruits can prevent weight loss and in some cases, cause weight gain. Because fruit is healthy, people think that they can eat as much fruit as they want and it won’t affect their weight at all. However, this is wrong. Eating too much of anything can hinder the weight loss process. Yes, fruits and vegetables are lower in calories and are higher in water and fiber than other foods, but fruits contain as much as three times as much calories as nonstarchy vegetables.
One may unknowingly consume an extra 250 calories a day from fruit. With this rate, this can hinder the loss of one pound in two weeks. Experts recommend limiting the amount of fruit intake to three servings per day. Also, they recommend only eating fresh or frozen fruit. The other fruits, the dried fruits, the fruit cups, the fruit juices, must be avoided. They add extra calories and less fiber. The sugar found in fruits is healthier than the refined sugar, but both contain the same amount of calories. This makes one realize that fruit cannot be consumed in unlimited quantities.
